The Color of the Flames

Have you ever noticed the difference between the flame of a lighter and the flame of a candle? I didn’t until I started fiddling with my lighter.  A candle, after it’s lit, is a fairly consistent orange.  Sure, if the candle is new there is a little blue at the start of the burn, but it doesn’t stay for long. A lighter, however, is split between blue and orange.  It might be because of the fuel, I’m not sure, that it burns hotter.  Interesting enough that from all the fires I’ve seen in the past that this one takes no time at all to burn blue. Artificially skipping the time a more natural flame takes to reach that point.
