Lights in the Clouds

Earlier this week there was a pretty interesting cloud formation by our lab room after class.  It made the sky darker than it was and was slowly moving. Sporadically throughout the cloud were lightning strikes. Some of the strikes appeared as heat lightning, lighting up the entire cloud. Others were white-hot bolts that cut through the darkness. This one cloud showed that not all lightning is like the bolt the brought the monster of Frankenstein to life. Lightning illuminates more than just a single streak of the sky.
