It’s odd how a simple action can remind you of things that
you can’t change. The other day, just because I could, I sat in my bathroom
alone in the dark. Well, not really in the dark because I had my flashlight
with me. You may be asking yourself, “Why would anyone in his or her supposed
right mind sit on the floor of a bathroom with a flashlight for no
reason?” I had a reason: testing out a
light gel swatch book. While looking at all the pretty colors and trying not to
rip any of them because they were sticking together, I was reminded of a friend
of mine from high school. She was one of our school’s best actors and did a
fair amount of lighting for both the choral and theatre departments. I recall
one day she came back from a theatre conference and had a swatch book with her.
We looked through it while talking about
random things. I guess sitting there in the bathroom with my swatch book
reminded me just how removed from everyone I know and alone I am down here. It
reminded me how you came go from best friends, almost sisters, to a fleeting
memory in someone’s mind.
