There haven’t been very many times since I started attending
Full Sail that I’ve gotten to sleep in on a weekday. Today just so happens to
be one of these rare moments. Since having nothing but nine in the morning
class for the past several months, my body has gotten used to waking up
anywhere between six and seven thirty in the morning. Normally, I wont even open my eyes to hit the
snooze button on my alarm clock. This morning around 6:30 am, however, I did
and noticed the amount of light coming through my curtains. It wasn’t dark but
it wasn’t bright enough for me to feel compelled to get up and face the day. I
rolled over and went back to sleep. About two hours pass and I wake up again,
but notice that it’s a little brighter in my room. Being the anti-morning
person that I am, I again went back to sleep. The last time I awoke I didn’t look at the
clock by my bed. Just by looking at the light coming into my room through the
curtains, I thought it was later in the day than it actually was. I found this kind of interesting because this
wasn’t the first time in the past week that this has happened. Something nearly
the same happened to me on Sunday. I woke up with light streaming into my room,
looked at my bedside clock, and started to freak out because it said that it
was five in the evening. Thanks to my phone, I found out that it was really
nine in the morning and I hadn’t slept the whole day away. This just goes to
show that you can’t entirely trust Mother Nature or tech that’s plugged into a
wall outlet all the time. Especially when you’re half asleep.
