It’s been quite a while since I’ve been out at sundown. I’ve
either been hulled up in my apartment removed from the world or in a rather
dark lab room working on some project. I would have missed it last night if I
didn’t have to go get a spice I needed for dinner. The different colors in the sky just
astonished me. The picture I took
doesn’t give it justice. The darker pick
with a light blue and pale orange made want to sit outside and sky gaze. But
then that would mean that I would have to sit in the middle of the road and I
really don’t want to get hit by a car.

No Motivation
Today I just seemed so hard to find the drive to get things
done. Maybe it was because I was up until 3 in the morning. Maybe it’s because
a “vacation” week is fast approaching. Most likely it was because my room was
so dim and warm. All I wanted to do was chill out and watch random things
online. That might also be why I avoided
going into the kitchen. It was just brighter and made me feel like I should be doing
something productive. Strange though,
since the sun’s gone down I’ve been ready to get things done. Oh the evidence
of the return of my vampiric tendencies. To be a creature of the night.
The Color of the Flames

Have you ever noticed the difference between the flame of a lighter and the flame of a candle? I didn’t until I started fiddling with my lighter. A candle, after it’s lit, is a fairly consistent orange. Sure, if the candle is new there is a little blue at the start of the burn, but it doesn’t stay for long. A lighter, however, is split between blue and orange. It might be because of the fuel, I’m not sure, that it burns hotter. Interesting enough that from all the fires I’ve seen in the past that this one takes no time at all to burn blue. Artificially skipping the time a more natural flame takes to reach that point.
Over the Moon
The past two nights have been full of clouds. I never
noticed till last night while getting my mail how they filter the moon’s glow. It’s
kind of like there’s a huge piece of wax paper covering it. I fell like this
would be perfect for a cool night in, lets say, October. A covered moon to
scare the little neighborhood children by. How I long now for that time to come to
celebrate the horrors of the night and the time of my birth.
The Shades of the Sky
Throughout this entire month, the lights from all of the
storms we’ve had here have fascinated me. Not only that, but the look of the
sky that comes with it. Normally, where
the light and blue skies begin is where the storm ends. But this is not always
the case. The last storm proved this point. Sitting in my car I thought I was
under water from the amount of rain pelting the windshield. Looking not too far in front of me I saw a
patch of blue in the stormy grey. I was a bit confused because having it pouring
cats and dogs outside generally means dark to me. Well, at least darker than it
was. But there in the middle of this was that patch of clear, vibrant blue. The
wonders of nature never cease to astound and confuse me at times.
Flow of the Day
Never before have I really noticed that the
light of day moves kind of like the ocean tide. There are times you when you
know for certain that there will be a change. Then there are times where the
light shifts so slightly that you may not realize it. The sun rises, the sun
sets; we know this for certain. But during the day, when it’s not pouring down
rain, is when the unseen changes are.
The sun moves to its zenith, to it’s brightest point, while gradually
growing along the way. From there it makes its slow decent into darkness. It comes and it goes, the circle of light in
life.
